July 4th Weekend O’ Fun

This will be a short post. I'll add commentary another time. I just want to put up photos for all to see. Here is the beginning of the weekend, where the "men" tried to put up the tarp. It took them a few tries before they finally got it right. The top middle part just wouldnt keep in place so there was much yelling [from PG].

Then they got tired, and this was the rest of their day.

Here is when the water balloons came out, and HG hit dada square in the head with one. Sad to say, the water balloon didnt pop, so it hurt all the more. (That rat also beamed me in the ribs, which was painful. But he got his day when he was hit in the eye by one, courtesy of PG.)

Here were the fireworks display that Steve & Christian so kindly spent most of Saturday evening creating.

some random pics.

Here's when Mom & Dad and a few of the relatives came to visit. There were 4 other people; 1 adult and 3 kids. The oldest kid was 16 or 17, and he was the only one that spoke English (but that's 'cuz he's an ABC). The other kids' (brother & sister) ranged between 10 - 16, respectively. Their mom is Mom's cousin, on grandma's side.

Hmm, I guess I didn't take that many pictures. Or if I did, it was a bunch of nothing. I cant seem to find any other cute/cool/weird/funky pictures. I know I carried that camera around but I guess I didnt do anything with them. Oh well. These pictures definitely summed up our weekend. Final day of fun.

Weekend @ Dada’s.

It was a beautiful weekend. The days were long, the temperature was hot, there were no children around. Woo hoo! Okay, the children were sorely missed. But we had gotten a lot accomplished. Both Jayden's room and the office are completely painted from ceiling to, yes, carpet. But the carpet park was really accidental. I would put pictures up, but the two I took came out very dark and the colors weren't noticeable.

Jayden's room is a dark blue, and the office is a grayish lavendar. They actually came out real nice. You guys'll see it in a couple of weeks. Well, not Oda. I'll take a better picture for you, Oda. Steve, Dada & I spent all day Saturday, and parts of Sunday, prepping, priming, trimming and painting. As much work as it was, we shelled it out quickly. 3 people, 2 rooms. We were good. Wait, wait.. We ARE good.

Steve & Dada went to pick up some packing equipment from a packing facility. It was a bunch of cardboard boxes and 2 rolls of bubblewrap. It was impossible to fit all of it in the truck, and another person in the back. Also, Dada couldn't see out of her rearview mirror. So plans were made to tie it to the top of the truck. Hard to see, but here's the process.

All through PA & Jersey, there were people staring at our bubblewrap. Some were even pointing. At one point, there was a busload of people just staring at us. Here is the size of one bubblewrap. It's 2 feet wide, 375 feet long, and .5 inch thick. Think about 2 of those on top of the car. Albeit, the sight was a bit humorous.

Bored on a Saturday Night

Dada came down for the weekend, but didn't bring down the kids, to some people's disappointment, all right, to everbody's disappointment, but we still had a family dinner on Saturday, minus Perry and Eric (some one had to watch the kids). Dinner was followed by random chit-chat about who would be on our top 10 lists (Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jessica Alba, Jessica Simpson, Angelina Jolie, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, etc), we had trouble thinking of hot men, I would add Eric Dane aka McSteamy and Michael Vartan, but I was the only one who knew who they are. There were also discussions on Batman, Superman, Spider-Man and X-Men. After a few hours of random topics and trying to figure out what to do with five of us and only one car, we ended up playing Texas Hold 'Em. Over Texas Hold 'Em, we came up with X-Men names for everybody, yes we were very bored and just a bit nerdy. The names are:

  • Ben: Storm
  • Dada: Cyclops
  • Eric: Juggernaut
  • Henry: Magneto
  • Oda: Beast
  • Perry: Iceman
  • Steve: Professor Xavier

I repeat, yes, it was nerdy of us, but we were bored and the card game was taking a long time.
